John 1

*1* In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

*5* And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not lay hold of it.

*6* There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

*7* This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through Him might believe.

*8* He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

*9* That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

*10* He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and yet the world did not know Him.

*11* He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

*12* But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those believing into His name:

*13* who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

*14* And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

*15* John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, This was He of whom I said, He who arrives after me appeared in history before me, for He existed before me.

*16* And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

*17* For the Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

*18* No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

*1* There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

*2* This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.

*3* Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born from above, he is not able to see the kingdom of God.

*4* Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? He is not able to enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?

*5* Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of God.

*6* That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

*7* Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born from above.

*8* The Spirit breathes where He wishes, and you hear His voice, but do not know where He comes from and where He goes. So is everyone who is born from the Spirit.

*9* Nicodemus answered and said to Him, How can these things be?

*10* Jesus answered and said to him, Are you a teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?

*11* Truly, truly, I say to you, We speak what We know and bear witness to what We have seen, and you do not receive Our testimony.

*12* If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you Heavenly things?

*13* No one has ascended to Heaven but He who came down from Heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in Heaven.

*14* And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

*15* that everyone believing into Him should not perish but have eternal life.

*16* For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish but have eternal life.

*17* For God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

*18* The one believing into Him is not judged; but the one not believing is judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

*19* And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

*20* For everyone practicing evil hates the Light and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

*21* But the one doing the truth comes to the Light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been worked in God.

*22* After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and immersed.

*23* And John also was immersing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were immersed.

*24* For John had not yet been thrown into prison.

*25* Then there arose a dispute between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification.

*27* John answered and said, A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from Heaven.

*28* You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but, I have been sent to go before Him.

*29* He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.

*30* He must increase, but I must decrease.

*31* He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from Heaven is above all.

*32* And what He has seen and heard, this He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.

*33* He who has received His testimony has set his seal that God is true.

*34* For He whom God has sent speaks the Words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

*35* The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.

*36* The one believing into the Son has eternal life; but the one disobeying the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

Hebrews 4:12-16  For the Word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
And there is no creature that is not revealed in His presence, but all things are naked and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom we must give answer.
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

*10* Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope.

*11* If we have sown spiritual things to you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?

*12* If others are partakers of this authority over you, should we not even more? Nevertheless we have not used this authority, but endure all things so that we might not hinder the gospel of Christ.

*13* Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the altar?

*14* Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.

*15* But I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should be done so with me; for it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my exulting void.

*16* For if I preach the gospel, there is no glory to me, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.

*17* For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.

*18* What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel.

*19* For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might gain the more;

*20* and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law, that I might gain those who are under the Law;

*21* to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under the Law toward Christ), that I might gain those who are without law;

*22* to the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might in any way save some.

*23* Now this I do through the gospel, that I may become a fellow partaker of it.

*24* Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

*25* And everyone who competes for the prize controls himself in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we an imperishable.
